Millard West High School has identified the student who died as 17-year-old Blake McKune. McKune was a senior at the school. Grief counselors will be available to speak with students Monday.

Investigators say his body was found near a creek at 192nd and Harrison Sunday.

The call came in for the body found around 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Investigators say the teen's friends discovered his body.

The teen's parents had previously reported him missing. Investigators say there is no foul play, but it's unclear how the teen ended up in the ditch.

Below is a statement from Millard West  Principal Greg Tiemann:

I am sorry to share that we have lost one of our own this weekend. Police and family have confirmed the death of senior Blake McKune. Our hearts go out to his family.

Counselors will be available at school tomorrow. We will do all we can to support the family through this difficult time, and we also want to connect with any of our students who may be struggling with this information. The unexpected death of a young person is a very sad and difficult thing to accept. Please start the conversation with your students and encourage them to visit with our counselors if they would like to talk.
