New kind of health care now offered in Omaha

Posted

A new heath care option is now being offered in Omaha. Strada Health Care is direct primary care and could be offered through more employers.

“It feels like a better relationship, a more quality relationship with the doctor,” said patient Mariko Churchill.

A doctor would basically be available 24/7, “She was able to get my prescription in a few hours and start on Saturday instead of waiting until Monday or me going to urgent care,” said Churchill.

Strada Health Care opened early this year.

“I think this is the future for primary care, we live with a very health care system, your doctors are only rewarded when you are sick,” said Doctor Joel Bessmer who brought this type of service to Omaha.

The direct access to a doctor can me met through faster scheduling and messaging through an app.

“I want patients to feel like they can come to a doctor's office and ask about what it takes to be healthy and feel rushed out of there,” said Bressmer.

He said there is a monthly fee that will help bring down the cost of medical expenses, “All the labs are covered; we pay for that out of your monthly fee.”

He also added over the next year they will look at how their practice stacks up against large heath care providers to see if they can provide better service at a cheaper price.
