Vandals have struck Northwest Omaha again. Homeowners woke up to eggs on their houses and shattered car windows over the past week near 156th and Maple streets.
Monday night, the Walnut Ridge neighborhood was egged; Harrison Biggs’ car was one of the targets.
“I got back from dinner about 8 p.m., and about 11 p.m., I headed out to go to the gym,” he said. That's when he saw egg shells on the ground.
Lucky for Biggs, the rain washed away the eggs from his car before they did any damage.
“There was a house on the opposite end of the neighborhood that posted about it, that is probably four blocks away,” he said.
On the other side of 156th Street, in the Westin Hills neighborhood, cars had windows shot out over the weekend.
“There were about four cars I know of that got shot up,” Tre Sanders said.
His car has three windows hit, two of them shattered and he is now out $2,000. Sanders said he was told it was someone driving by with a BB Gun.
“Kind of angry, because when I lived down north, this didn't happen,” he said.
Sanders and Biggs both think teens are behind the crimes.
“It is a little troubling because I park my car on the street, and you think in Northwest Omaha nothing is going to happen,” Biggs said.”But I still double-check and make sure my car is locked.”
Several people mentioned they have seen and posted about the vandalism on the NextDoor app. Police like to remind people that if they have a crime occur to also fill out a police report.
