Husker linebacker Gifford eyeing more playing time

Posted

The Nebraska football team is in the thick of its 2nd week of fall camp. One Husker who hopes to be in the thick of the outside linebacker competition is Luke Gifford. The Lincoln Southeast alum forced a fumble and picked off a pass in the spring game back in April.

Gifford believes Bob Diaco's new 3-4 scheme could help him see the field in 2017.

"Coming out of spring ball, Coach Bray did make it a point to tell me that I really changed the way I played," Gifford said. "That really clicked for me but I think just overall after spring I was like alright I'm finally there. We can finally slow it down. I feel like I'm confident enough that I can play and do what I do."

The Huskers open the season Saturday September 2 against Arkansas State.
