A 19-year-old Omaha man has died after he was hit by an SUV while riding a skateboard in Mills County, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
The incident happened on Interstate 29 around 2 a.m. Saturday.
The state patrol says a woman driving a Toyota 4Runner in the left lane of I-29 was passing a semi when she collided with Tyler Givens-Dunn, who was on a skateboard.
Friends tell our partners at the Omaha World-Herald that Givens-Dunn was on his way to the nearest gas station after the car he was riding in ran out of gas. He had been on his way home from a concert with friends.
The driver of the Toyota was identified as Sarah Perry of North Carolina.
