Shut off those phones: It's National Screen-Free Week

It's time to shut those phones off and give yourself a break from constant notifications and rings. April 29 through May 5 is National Screen-Free Week.

Screen-Free Week is an annual event, inviting people to "play, explore and rediscover the joys of life beyond ad-supported screens." Thousands of families, schools, and communities are taking part, putting down their entertainment screens for seven days.

The event encourages you to swap out an hour of YouTube for an hour spent outside; a movie on a rainy day spent instead reading, chatting or playing pretend. It's super easy to participate: just swap a screen for literally anything else.

Screen-Free Week gives you a break from news feeds, targeted ads and autoplay videos while giving families and communities an opportunity to truly connect.

Head to ScreenFree.org for great ideas of things to do, find out what schools and communities are doing together and create community-wide events.
