OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska is reporting six new coronavirus deaths, bringing the total statewide to 240 since the pandemic began.
State officials have now confirmed 17,415 total positive cases out of the 148,039 who have been tested so far.
Of the current positive cases, 149 are currently hospitalized. That number has trended downward since late May.
Hospital capacity has remained relatively stable, with 42% of hospital beds, 45% of intensive care unit beds and 80% of ventilators available for patient use.
Gov. Pete Ricketts has used hospital capacity as the primary gauge in deciding when to ease social-distancing restrictions. The state says 11,066 people who contracted the virus have recovered.
