OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The Council Bluffs Police Department (CBPD) says they've spoken to shelters supporting flood victims and they have an overstock of one type of item.

At this time, the CBPD says they are asking people to temporarily suspend clothing donations but will still take non-perishable foods, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene items and water.

The CBPD says they have been humbled with the amount of donations coming in and that they will suspend collections once storerooms have been filled...until they are needed again.

They said they it will likely "take months for these families to recover from this tragedy."
