BELLEVUE, Neb. (KMTV) — The first day of school is a whole different experience this year. Parents don't get to meet teachers, students can't hug their friends after months of not seeing them. There's a lot of changes. One Bellevue family did their best to deal with all the changes and still enjoy the first day of school.
For Bellevue mom Kristine Aitmassaoud, the first day back is always an emotional one. But this year is different. She's not only dealing with the excitement and nerves, but uncertainty as well.
"You're sending your kids to an unknown," Aitmassaoud said.
The new normal includes masks on buses and in the schools. It's a normal Adam and Ayden Aitmassaoud and all other Bellevue Public School students will have to get used to as they return to around 80 percent capacity Thursday.
