CHADRON, Neb. (AP) — Authorities in western Nebraska have identified three family members from California killed in a small plane crash near Chadron.

Dawes County Attorney Vance Haug, who also serves as the county coroner, said Friday in a news release that those killed in the Wednesday afternoon crash were 25-year-old Duncan Brown, of Forestville, California, and his parents, 61-year-old Damon Brown and 68-year-old Sarah Brown, both of Sebastopol, California.

The twin engine plane was registered to Damon and Sarah Brown. It crashed just around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday about a half-mile (.805 kilometers) north of the Chadron Municipal Airport. The three were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not said who was piloting the plane.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the flight originated at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and was destined for Chadron.
