Fourth AFM case confirmed in Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) — Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services confirms a fourth case of a polio-like illness.

A child from Northeast Nebraska is currently in the hospital for Acute Flaccid Myelitis, according to a DHHS news release.

The AFM case was reported in Dakota County.

Symptoms include muscle weakness and paralysis of the face, neck or back.

In 2018, an AFM case was confirmed in Douglas county and the other two cases were in the Sarpy/Cass county area.
