OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Family announced on a GoFundMe page that an Omaha woman with end-stage kidney failure who married her fiance from her hospital bed has died.
Melissa Jordan, 31, married Boenerges Duran in the ICU of Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy earlier this week.
The ceremony was organized by hospital staff with help from strangers. After nurses posted to a wedding Facebook group asking to borrow a dress, the post quickly took off and in a matter of minutes, the wedding became a reality.
The couple had been together for nine years and engaged for one. After the engagement, Jordan became critically ill, eventually leading to liver and kidney failure.
Jordan's family says she passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on August 8.
