OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Police in Omaha are investigating two shootings that occurred on Sunday night.
The first shooting occurred in the 5900 block of North 39th St. when one person sustained a non-life threatening injury.
Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert at 6 p.m. and located the victim, 27-year-old Joshua Townsell. Townsell said he was driving when he was involved in a disturbance with a driver in another vehicle. During the incident the suspect discharged a firearm, damaging Townsell's vehicle and striking Townsell.
Medics treated Townsell at the scene.
The second shooting occured at 46th St. And Ames Ave. late Sunday when one person was critically injured.
Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation at 11:55 p.m. and located 33-year-old Richard Kercheval. The investigation revealed that Kercheval was driving in the area when an unknown suspect fired a gun, striking Kercheval and his vehicle.
OFD Medics transported Kercheval to the Nebraska Medical Center. His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.
