Central District Health Dept. announces growing number of COVID-19 cases

MERRICK COUNTY, Neb. (KMTV) — The Central District Health Department announced a large jump in COVID-19 cases on Monday.

The number of cases in the district reached 68 on Monday, including one case in Merrick County, five in Hamilton County and 62 in Hall County.

Additionally, the health department has been notified that testing will be provided to at-risk healthcare workers and first responders on a very limited basis this week.

The health department said the National Guard will be in Grand Island for testing from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Friday.

Their goal is to test 75 healthcare workers and first responders each day for five days by appointment only.

Testing is prioritized for long-term care workers who have been exposed or are having symptoms.
