Douglas County reports 33.8 percent coronavirus positivity rate

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - The Douglas County Health Department said the coronavirus positivity rate in the county for the week that ended Saturday was 33.8 percent.

That represents an increase of over six percent from last week when the positivity rate was 27 percent.

The county health department also announced 241 additional coronavirus cases, upping the total number of cases in the county since the pandemic began to 53,798.

No new coronavirus deaths were reported by the county on Sunday. So far, 489 residents have died from coronavirus but 35,209 have recovered.

According to the most recent local hospital report received Saturday, medical and surgical beds were at 74% occupancy with 394 beds available and adult ICU beds are occupied at a 66% rate with 114 beds available.

There were 279 individuals hospitalized who have been diagnosed with COVID-19, with 79 of them receiving adult ICU level care. There are also 27 more persons of interest (generally waiting for test results).

Forty-one individuals who were confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19 were on ventilators.
