Douglas County surpasses 56,000 coronavirus cases

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - The Douglas County Health Department reported 494 coronavirus cases on Saturday, pushing the county's total since the start of the pandemic to 56,109.

The county didn't announce any new coronavirus deaths on Saturday. The number of residents who have died from the virus remains at 518.

The county says 37,930 residents have recovered from coronavirus.

As of the most recent report received on Friday, medical and surgical beds were at 79% occupancy with 324 beds available and adult ICU beds are occupied at a 69% rate with 103 beds available.

There were 245 individuals hospitalized who have been diagnosed with COVID-19, with 77 of them receiving adult ICU level care.

There are also 18 more persons of interest (generally waiting for test results).

Forty-one individuals who were confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19 were on ventilators.
