Lincoln reports first coronavirus-related death

LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) — Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird's office released a statement, saying the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) reported five new coroanvirus cases and the county's first coronavirus-related death.

The person who died was a hospitalized man in his 50s. The department says he acquired coronavirus through the community.

The LLCHD provided the following information on cases in the area:

  • 5 new community-acquired cases for a total of 39 to date - 18 of the cases were community spread, 19 were travel related and two were acquired within a household from someone else who had the virus
  • 110 individuals being monitored
  • 16 tests pending
  • 1,196 negative tests to date
  • 1 Death
