OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Douglas County has dropped to a "moderate" transmission rate for COVID-19.
Public Health Director Dr. Lindsay Huse made the announcement before the county board Tuesday.
Huse also highlighted how a very low amount of people are receiving critical care treatment following the surge of the omicron variant.
"The ventilator usage right now, I think the lowest dot we have is 10. But as of last night, there were only six COVID patients on ventilators in our metro. So that's absolutely fantastic news," said Huse.
The percentage of those who are vaccinated here in Douglas County and have also become infected with COVID-19 is currently just under ten percent.
This is known as the vaccine breakthrough cases. Huse adds that as COVID cases go down she hopes this number will stabilize soon.
