LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) — Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts urged residents to not let their guard down with COVID-19 despite hospitalizations decreasing.

On Monday, Gov. Ricketts discussed the state moving from the orange category to the yellow category in hospitalizations, meaning now 15-20 percent of total hospitalizations are COVID-19 patients.

The change means elective surgeries are once again allowed depending on the hospital. Additionally, depending on the school, non-household members can once again attend extracurricular events.

The indoor capacity has changed from 25 percent to 50 percent due to the transition to the yellow category.

COVID-19 vaccinations arrived in Nebraska on Monday. Gov. Ricketts said he'll likely get vaccinated in April.

Gov. Ricketts stressed to not take the whole family Christmas shopping and to be careful heading into the holiday.
