OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - The Nebraska Truckers Association provided free lunches for truck drivers on the road Thursday.
The group has already did this in Grand Island and Lincoln and now Thursday in the Omaha area, serving meals at Sapp Brothers truck stop.
They said they do this because they want their drivers to feel appreciated and know how much they're needed.
“Without the truck drivers, those empty store shelves are going to stay empty,” said Kent Grisham of the Nebraska Trucking Association. “They are really unsung heroes every day of our lives, but we don't stop to realize it until we face a crisis like the one we're in right now.
They were able to serve these free lunches after sponsors for other events that had to be cancelled, pushed to help out and take care of the drivers.
