LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) - Nebraska State. Sen. Tony Vargas announced some tough news to his social media followers on Thursday - his parents in New York both tested positive for COVID-19 two weeks ago.

He shared an update on their condition on Thursday.

“My Mom is doing okay. My Dad isn't, though," Vargas said. "He got admitted to the hospital and he's been for the last ten days in the ICU on a ventilator. The doctors are doing everything they can and we are hopeful he's going to get better."

He also made a plea for everyone to do their part by staying home and practicing social distancing if you do have to go out.
