FREMONT, Neb. (KMTV) - The Salvation Army played a huge role in last year's Fremont flooding.

It was the Salvation Army's largest disaster event they had ever seen in our area. While the people were dealing with their loss, the Salvation Army was concentrating on their future.

They say they never look at those who have lost everything as victims.

“We call them flood survivors,” said Maj. Greg Thompson of the Salvation Army. “We know your home is gone, your things are gone but guess what, we can get you those things back, we can put you in a different home, we can fix this.”

The Salvation Army assisted more than 2,000 homes during the flood.

They are currently holding disaster preparedness seminars in small towns and providing them with emergency disaster kits.
