OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Counting machines in Douglas County went to work on Monday, each counting about 250 ballots a minute.

"We've mailed out over 180,000 ballots... and we have 165,000 back in," said Douglas County Election Commissioner Brian Kruse.

Long lines wrapped around the Douglas County Election Commission on Monday, voters' last chance to vote early.

The election office increased staff. They brought in more volunteers and say they're confident the process will go smoothly.

"We've had processes and procedures in place many years that have been tried and true," Kruse said.
