LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) — Renovations of Memorial Stadium in Lincoln are moving forward after a massive delay, but a lack of funds have now brought about some changes to the project. Upgrades to Memorial Stadium are moving forward — but slightly scaled back — because of the global covid-19 pandemic.
Not all the funds are on hand, said University of Nebraska President Ted Carter.
The $155 million project is now broken into two phases.
Nebraska athletic director bill moos said in a statement, “The completion of the football facility will also be a difference-maker in attracting prospective student-athletes to our program."
The first phase will include $135 million in renovations which are set to begin this spring. Phase two, with a price tag of $20 million, will be determined at a later date.
