Saunders County Sheriff officials say a 12-year-old boy was airlifted to a Omaha hospital on Tuesday night after a fireworks mishap near Ashland.
Officials tell KMTV at around 7:45 pm, the boy was lighting fireworks alone when an explosion severely damaged his left hand.
The Thomas Lakes neighborhood is located just north of Camp Ashland on the west side of the Platte River.
The incident is under investigation
