A "Fresh Start" for North Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Heart Ministries Center just opened up their Fresh Start Laundromat.

"Our guiding motto at the Heart Ministry Center is dignity for all," says Eric Crawford, CEO of Heart Ministry Center. "Connecting people in need with clean clothing...there's dignity in that"

Some have the inconvenience of not having a washer and dryer in their apartment, but what if you didn't have one anywhere near where you live? For those without a car, they must walk blocks with heavy, dirty laundry.

"The closest laundry mat is probably on 30th," said Big Lou Parker of the Heart Ministry Center. "It's a very good asset to the community."

Looking to address the needs of the community in North Omaha, the Heart Ministry Center just opened a 2,000 square foot, high-efficiency laundromat.

"The laundromat made a lot of sense in connecting our clients with a much-needed good and service," adds Crawford.

The laundromat is open to the entire community, not just guests of the ministry.

There are programs for reduced or free laundry services. Fresh Start Laundromat is located at 2222 Binney Street. It is open seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The remodel allowed the ministry to expand its medical and dental services and add vision services as well.
