On Wednesday morning families gathered for some musical fun.

Omaha Performing Arts offered many three to five-year-olds and their parents their first jazz class experience at the Holland Center.

The kids got to learn about instruments, the sounds they make and how they’re played.  Of course lots of singing took place during the 45 minute class.

“This is the first time in Omaha, today was it and they'll be running classes in the fall,” said WeBop Instructor Tim Sullivan.

Only Chicago, New York City, St. Louis and now Omaha offer the WeBop jazz program.

“Jazz is music that lets you move and dance and sing, everything about jazz is so conducive to kids,” said Sullivan.

Instructor Tim Sullivan says jazz is a music that helps with the developmental process of three to five year olds.  The class is all about learning as a family and having fun.

The eight-week WeBop sessions begin September 6, 2016, through October 29, 2016 at the Holland Center.
