A nearly decade-old case is finally closed.  On Wednesday a judge sentenced a man convicted of a 2006 child sex crime.

38-year-old Jason Barrow will serve 45 to 50 years in prison for attempted sexual assault of a child in the first degree.

In December of 2006 Barrow climbed onto the roof of a home in the middle of the night and woke up a nine-year-old girl.

Barrow made the girl undress and fondled himself. He then threatened to kill her if she told anyone.

On Wednesday prosecutors asked the judge for the maximum sentence.

“This wasn't just a case where he just satisfied himself outside her window, He did extra things.  He did the worst you can do to a child by not only the underlying charges of sexual assault, but by threatening to kill her and her family,” said Assistant Douglas County Attorney Brenda Beadle.

The child was unable to identify the man outside her window.  But, when Barrow was convicted of felony burglary in 2013, his DNA matched the sample left at the scene of the attempted child sex crime in 2006.

Sioux City Police say Barrow is a suspect in three separate sex crimes in 2012, but has not been charged.
