The air show is returning to Offutt Air Force Base this summer, officials announced in a Facebook post Monday.
“The Defenders of Freedom Open House and Air Show is back for 2016 and the main act is – the United States Air Force Thunderbirds! With this year, the 55th Wing will celebrate 25 years continuously deployed, 50 years calling Nebraska our home and 75 years as a Wing. Come celebrate with us on July 30 and 31 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the #OffuttAirShow!”
The 2015 air show was canceled because of runway construction. Before that, in 2014, an estimated 300,000 people attended the two-day event.
“I think the Offutt air show is recognized as one of the must-see summer events in the greater-Omaha area,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Marty Reynolds in a prepared statement last month. “We hope everyone will circle the date and make plans to come out and join us.”
Organizers say the last time the Thunderbirds performed at Offutt was in 2010.
