“He takes credit cards, uses them, gets caught with them, we convict him but he continues to do the same thing over and over again,” Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine said.
Kleine said Huss has several precious convictions similar to his recent arrest, including being arrested a handful of times this year.
Court records show on Janurary 14th Huss was arrested for theft, he served 10 days in jail. January 26th he was arrested for possession of meth and hydrocodone and received probation. February 1st he received another charge for receiving stolen property and was sentenced 35 days. September 26th Huss was arrested with stolen credit cards belonging to four different people, that case is still pending. On September 29th he was sentenced 300 days in jail for unauthorized use of a financial transaction device from an August 16th arrest.
“This is a repeat offender that keeps doing the same thing over and over again and obviously we need to protect society from somebody like that,” said Kleine.
Most of the neighborhoods Huss targeted were in northwest Omaha.
“I am surprised it is in our neighborhood, this community here has always been a quiet community,” Alvin Mitchell said. He was also surprised to hear the number of crimes Huss has committed.
“I would like to see where he could change his life and go get a job,” he said.
Kleine said in previous offenses, judges haven't been able to give a high sentence to Huss because of the parameters of the crimes, he hopes this time they can have enough evidence to put him in jail and get him off the streets.
Huss has two cases pending, one in county and one in district court.
Omaha Police are investigating if Huss is connected to any other crimes.
