Replacing Offutt Air Force Base's aging runway could be a step closer to taking place.
Nebraska Congressman Jeff Fortenberry says the House Appropriation Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs approved its Fiscal Year 2017 appropriations bill. Fortenberry says the bill is the first to move forward in Congress this year. The bill provides the necessary oversight for the construction of a replacement runway at Offutt.
The bill also encourages the option of public-private partnerships in constructing VA facilities, which is significant to the Omaha VA project.
