OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Camp Kindness is happening this week at the Nebraska Humane Society.
It's a five day camp for animal lovers and this week's focus is on cats.
Kids between the ages of 10 and 13 get hands-on experiences combined with interesting educational opportunities all involving animals.
Usually, the camp takes 40 kids, but with COVID-19, the camp reduced its size to 15.
Still, they say it's a fun learning experience for everyone, even the shelter's animals
“We want that interaction for the shelter animals. We don't just want to have them in the cages, we want that enrichment to be a big part of our shelter life for them. But also we want to help enrich the lives of the families here in the community by sharing with them how to interact with animals in a positive manner and help them understand about animal welfare and animal safety as well,” said Tammy Conroy, Director of Education with the Nebraska Humane Society.
