Emergency personnel were called to the scene of an accident involving a child around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday in Northwest Omaha.

Omaha Police said a 12-year-old boy riding a bicycle was struck by a Prius near 114th Street and Hartman Avenue. He was not wearing a helmet, according to an OPD press release.

The boy was reportedly taken to Children's Hospital, where he was treated for a shoulder and mouth injury, the release states. He is expected to recover from his injuries, according to the release.

Police said they did not cite the driver involved in this accident, stating in a report Tuesday evening that the driver had the right of way, and that the bicyclist failed to stop at a stop sign.
