Extreme heat Tuesday made for the perfect day for a frozen treat; some people in mid-town were surprised with free ice cream.
Customers waited in long lines inside Cold Stone Creamery to get a free scoop this afternoon.
It’s a part of Random Acts of Cold Stone. The company is surprising customers at different cities around the country this week.
Shawn Williams, Mid-town franchise owner said the store has been working towards being a chosen city.
“I wanted to have it here to be able to give back to Omaha,” Williams said. “But there’s a whole set of criteria they go through to award it. It’s got good operations, customer service scores, so it’s really only the best of the best cold stones across the country that are selected to do this."
Cold Stone’s next stop is a surprise, but they’ll announce it on social media.
