Crews on scene of possible hazmat incident

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Rescue crews are on the scene of a possible hazmat incident at the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Midlands near 22nd and P Streets.

22nd Street is blocked off at the intersection due to the situation. We have a crew on scene, and we will bring you more information as we get it. 3 News Now Photojournalist Steffani Nolte tells us that there is a chemical-like smell in the air.

10:48 Update - A witness at the scene the scene tells us they were told to evacuate because someone was improperly mixing chemicals in the building.

11:16 Update - We have been told that a there's also concern over a sinkhole on the other side of the Boys and Girls Club building, just off 20th and P Streets.

12:12 update: The Fire Department says two employees called after recognizing that they had mixed two pool chemicals. The intersection of 22nd and P will remain closed while crews figure out what to do what the sinkhole. No one was injured in the incident and there were no children in the building.
