The College World Series is promoting better learning habits and reading skills by challenging Omaha elementary school students to hit the books.
It is part of the “Read to Omaha” program and organizers launched last spring, after learning students in the third grade developed study habits that would follow them for life.
Liberty Elementary student Noah Holoubek read at least three books during the last school year.
Now in the fourth grade, he is one of four winners that earned a bicycle this year.
“Diary of a Wimpy Kid,” “Little Critters” and “A to Z Mysteries” are some of his favorite books, he says.
Holoubek says he will encourage his friends and classmates to be more active readers.
