Damaged patrol car was targeted, police say

Investigators say an Omaha police cruiser left with a smashed windshield was the target of vandalism, and now they’re looking for suspects.

The police cruiser was parked at the home of an officer overnight on Wednesday, Oct. 28, near 77th and Cuming streets, when it was damaged, police said.

Investigators said someone threw a block from a neighbor’s retaining wall at it, smashing the patrol car’s windshield and damaging the hood.

“We have completed an extensive canvas, which has turned up no leads,” police said in a statement Friday.

They ask anyone with information to call Omaha Crime Stoppers at (402) 444-STOP.
