OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — It's officially Shark Week, and Diventures held a shark education session this past weekend to help people learn more about the animals.

A Marine Biology expert talked to a group of people about common misconceptions about the animals and the important role they play in the ecosystem.

"The big thing is, if sharks die, the oceans die. They are the apex predator and the custodian of the ocean," Pat Purkhiser said, Diventures Trainer.

Sunday was the only day of the session, but Diventures plans to have another shark event at the start of Shark Week next year.

Speaking of sharks, the toddler anthem "Baby Shark" is being turned into a cereal. Kellogg's announced Friday it's releasing the berry-flavored loops and marshmallow cereal in partnership with Pinkfong, the Korean entertainment brand that created the song.

"Baby Shark" launched on YouTube in November 2015 and now has more than three billion views. The limited-edition cereal will be sold in Sam's Club stores beginning August 17th, while supplies last.
