OMAHA, Neb. (KMTv) — The Mayor's office has put the brakes on getting electric scooters on Omaha's streets.

Last week, the City Council approved a pilot program for scooters in the city. The program was passed by a 6-0 vote.

Two scooter companies, Lime and Spin, have been approved to bring up to 750 scooters to Omaha, and riders must be 18 years or older.

The program will last until November and after that, the city will decide whether the scooters can stay in Omaha moving forward.

However, Mayor Jean Stothert says she still has some questions about the pilot program and plans to take another look at it today.
