The Facebook Data Center in Papillion, which was originally expected going to be two buildings, is expanding to six. Construction is expected to begin on the expansion in May.
All six buildings are expected to be completed in 2023, with a campus of more than 2.6 million square feet.
The expansion will create thousands of jobs locally, according to a release from Facebook.
"The people and partners that attracted us to Papillion continue to deliver with talented workers, access to clean renewable energy, and excellent access to fiber. It was an easy decision to expand in Papillion, and we thank you — the local community — as well as our employees, construction partners, the city of Papillion, Sarpy County, the state of Nebraska, Enel Green Power North America, and OPPD," the release stated.
