Omaha just wrapped a tremendously successful weekend of great college basketball and tonight it was supposed to be on to the next sport.
The Omaha storm Chasers took batting practice indoors and were getting ready to face their parent club the Kansas City Royals, tonight at Werner Park, but the weather didn't cooperate.
At about 3:45 p.m., the general manager of the Kansas City Royals, announced the game had been canceled.
The Storm Chasers tweeted out about the game cancellation around 3:45 p.m. with a message by GM Martie Cordaro. He called the cancellation a disappointment; saying the exhibition game took nine years of planning to coordinate.
It had been a highly anticipated game and was sold out within 24 hours. Many super fans said they thought the game would go on despite the rain.
Some fans we spoke to, drove all the way to Omaha from Kansas City to catch the sluggers in action and want a refund.
The game will not be made up. Tickets can be exchanged at the Werner Park Ticket Office for tickets to any 2018 Storm Chasers contest for equal or less value.
The last time the teams played each other was at Rosenblatt Stadium newly two decades ago.
