Timothy Clausen escaped the Lincoln Correctional Center last Friday and planned to continue a life of crime on the outside.

According to investigators, Clausen had a gun and was planning a robbery when they captured him.

But his planned was diffused after a team of law enforcement agencies found him at a north Omaha apartment complex Wednesday night.

Law enforcement chased every lead after receiving hundreds of tips.

"I especially want to thank the citizens of north Omaha for all their help they provided which led to the eventual capture of Timothy Clausen." said Gov. Pete Ricketts.

On Thursday, Ricketts along with Nebraska State Patrol, Omaha Police Department, U.S. Marshal's Service and other law enforcement discussed the successful capture of Clausen.

Questions surrounding who helped the fugitive during his hideout were not immediately answered, however authorities say Clausen drastically altered his image and perhaps no one knew he was on the run.
