OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — A forum on the UNO campus Wednesday featured former Defense Secretary and longtime Nebraska U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel and former Secretary of State John Kerry.
The Global Leadership Forum was sold-out, filled with community members and students eager to hear both men speak on topics ranging from global leadership to climate change.
“I love the fact that students get exposure to those individuals like last year, Joe Biden, now John Kerry," said Javier Saldana, Jr.
Kerry said many of the problems on earth are human-created but fixable, adding now is the time to make a change.
"Having Chuck Hagel bring folks like John Kerry--it's really important because it shows, you know, we see the political climate on the news like all the time, but it's really interesting to see two folks that were ideologically really different just sit down and have a really sincere and honest conversation about foreign policy, America’s position in the global scale,” said Patrick Miller, political science student.
He also urged young people to vote as the 2020 election approaches.
