LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) — Governor Ricketts signed a bill making industrial hemp and products like cannabidiol or CBD products legal in Nebraska, according to the Omaha World-Herald.
Sen. Justin Wayne of Omaha introduced the legislation to allow the industrial hemp to be grown, harvested, processed and marketed in the state.
The bill's structure follows the steps outlined in the federal farm bill.
The Nebraska State Patrol and State Department of Agriculture opposed previous hemp proposals. The development of the bill took both agencies into consideration.
Ricketts has maintained his opposition to legalizing marijuana for either medical or recreational use.
