OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Today, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development announced it's now taking applications to help rural areas develop broadband access in areas that do not have commercial access to it.

The USDA says projects funded by the grants can help rural residents locate jobs, further their educations, gain access to healthcare, improve public safety and aid in the development of their communities.
