A groundbreaking was held Wednesday for renovations scheduled at a baseball field dedicated to a falled Omaha police officer.
The Kerrie Orozco Memorial Ballfield at Miller Park was dedicated in 2015. The new renovations include turf in the outfield, a new scoreboard and LED lights.
Omaha Police Sgt. Ken Fox says generous members of the community are making the renovations possible.
"I want to thank Kerrie's mom Ellen and her husband hector for sharing Kerrie with the world. She was a special woman and we love her to death and we miss her," Sgt. Fox said. "She was a special person. There's not too many people in the world, especially in Omaha, that are not here today that can bring us together like this to celebrate."
