OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium has a new resident. Today they announced the birth of a female western lowland gorilla.

The zoo says the baby was born on May 5 to first-time mother, 15-year-old Bambio and father, 24-year-old Tambo.

The baby's mother was attentive to her but she wasn't able to nurse properly so zoo staff have taken over feeding while wearing a "hairy vest during feedings." Staff hopes she will be able to rejoin her parents and the other gorillas.

Visitors will be able to see the baby with staff by going to the Hubbard Gorilla Valley during regular zoo hours.
