High voter turnout expected in Omaha Metro

Posted

Douglas and Sarpy County are both expecting a voter turnout much higher than previous years.

In Douglas County, the election commission is predicting a turnout of 52 percent, up from 45 percent in 2014, 40 percent in 2010 and 49 percent in 2006.

“With voter registration and early voting at all-time record high levels in Douglas County, it is clear voters are planning to have their voices heard in the mid-term elections,” election commissioner Brian Kruse said.

In Sarpy County, voter turnout is expected to be 53 percent and the county has already seen record-breaking voter registration totals and early voting ballot requests.
