A holiday lights display that is part of a fundraising campaign that starts Tuesday is dedicated to children lost to violence.
The Lights of Hope campaign, organized by Abide, kicks off tonight with a drive-through lights display at 3334 Fowler Ave from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
In partnership with H&H Lawn and Landscaping and Brite Ideas Decorating, they’ve created what they call “Lighthouses” as a way to illuminate the “darkest place of the inner city of Omaha.”
Organizers say the idea was inspired after Abide founders Ron and Twany Dotzler learned two children in their neighborhood, ages 12 and 9, were killed.
Tuesday’s kickoff celebration will also have performances by The Hottman Sisters, Steve Spurgeon of The Confidentials, Unscene Patrol and the Bride Dance Team.
The lights display will stay up until Dec. 25.
