Hundreds fundraise for Edwards family

Friends and family are rallying around a family of two brothers murdered earlier this month during a stand off in Northwest Omaha.

“Just trying to do whatever we can to help even a little bit,” said Jenni Edwards’ co-worker Lindsey Griencewic.

A little bit can go a long way, a major turnout at Beauty First as co-workers and friends try to do anything to help ease the pain the family is feeling.

“I think with them it's hard for them to talk themselves but just them being there the whole time I think was not only showed us but everybody else how thankful and we are just thankful they came out and spend the time with everyone,” said Griencewic.

On Feburary 12th Douglas County deputies say both Jason and John Edwards were killed in a house near 120th and Lake streets while helping their sister move out of her ex-boyfriends house. Their alleged killer, Kenneth Clark ended his life too.

But on Sunday evening, the community came out in droves to help fundraise 10-dollars a person for a new hairdo, eyebrow waxing and raffles to help Jenni’s family.

“She's one of the family so everybody really wanted to do something and so this turned out to be the perfect thing,” said Beauty First General Manager Thomas Sena.

Sena said Edwards’ work family is trying to help Jenni through this difficult time.

“Helping her out is going to be a on-going process for sure, she's been spending a lot of her time with family right now as you can imagine so this is the first things we were able to do for her--I promise you--it's just the start,” said Sena.

All the money raised at the event will go towards the Edwards family. Other Beauty First locations are asking people to round up to the next dollar to help the family out.
